Introducing dispensaries to Oklahomans...

Oklahoma’s State question 788 was approved in 2018, greenlighting the legalization of medical marijuana and introducing dispensaries to Oklahomans. With a new market, especially one as unique as medical marijuana brings lots of curiosity among many different types of consumers. One question that dawns on almost every first time patient is; what happens when I’m inside the dispensary?

First things first…

Every first time patient should know that dispensaries tend to be a relaxed and welcoming environment, so it’s nothing to be intimidated by. When you first step in the door typically you’ll be greeted by someone at the front desk, they’ll ask you for your state approved medical card and your driver’s license to add you to the dispensaries computer system where they can keep track of how much medicine you buy. Once you’re in their system you’ll wait in line for the next available budtender.

Budtenders…

Budtenders are there to help you pick the best way to medicate. They are trained to be knowledgeable on the products in the dispensary and help patients make the best decision possible. However, it’s best to have a general idea of what kind of product you need and how you intend to medicate. Let your budtender know your symptoms or reason for medicating so they can make the best decision possible when providing you with options on what medicine to pick.

Making a selection…

Now that you’ve been provided with options by your budtender it’s time to make a selection. It’s probably best to start in small quantities when buying at first. Marijuana is like food, we all have different preferences and tastes and sometimes the first thing you try may not be your favorite. It’s important to keep track in a journal or at least a mental log of what kind of strains you select so you can eventually narrow down what you truly prefer when medicating. After you’ve made your selection your budtender will proceed to check you out and you’ll be on your way!
