Most dispensaries in the nation…

Oklahomans take pride in a lot. We’re proud of our growing metro, our hometown basketball team the OKC Thunder, our extensive oil industry, and most recently our booming medical marijuana industry. With the most dispensaries in the entire nation, Oklahoma is one of the biggest medical marijuana states in the country. Currently there are over 2,200 dispensaries state wide.

Largest medical marijuana industry…

Oklahoma has the second largest medical marijuana industry per capita in the United States. Statistics show there are 15.6 dispensaries for every 100,000 people in Oklahoma, along with the most patients per capita! Second only to Oregon, which was one of the first states to legalize weed, while Oklahoma was the eighteenth state to legalize. Even with a late start in the industry Oklahoma is home to two out of the top ten cities with the most dispensaries per 50,000 people. With Moore, OK at the number seven spot and Edmond, OK at the number nine spot. Even more impressive is the fact that Edmond has more dispensaries per capita compared to Denver, CO one of the most notorious cannabis communities in America.

How do they afford to stay open…

With almost an overwhelming amount of dispensaries in Oklahoma; It begs the question, how do they afford to stay open? The answer is pretty simple, it’s basic supply and demand. One in every Thirteen Oklahoma residents has a medical card and for Oklahoma alone cannabis sales exceeded 800 million dollars for the year 2020. Due to such a large consumer base and the ease at which you can get a license to open a dispensary in Oklahoma, it’s no surprise that entrepreneurs are taking advantage of the cannabis rush and succeeding even with all the competition around.
